Message Now, im no Z whiz like many others on this board are, but I do know what questions I have had answered and have seen answered in the past. To quickly answer your question...yes, Z's do require more maintenence than other cars, but you have to be the one that decides just how much maintenence is 'too much'. Im 17 and have had my tt z for about 3 months now. I looked into the car for about 3 months, looking at over 600 Z's. The reason I did this was that had a good amount of money that was luckily given to my by my parents to find a car. I knew the history of z's, and from this, I chose to look into the one that i was going to buy twice as much. I wound up getting one with 38,000 miles that was garaged by a 70 year old doctor....From this, I had a Z specialist run tests on it to assure me that, although the Z's do tend to have some problems sooner or later, the car was going to last just that much longer. I did this knowing that i was going put a lot of care into the car, and that knowing the previous owner did the same, chances are minimal with failure.
To wrap up my crazy explanation, Z's from what i know will give you back what you give to them, but over all do break down a little bit more than other cars, but a lot more if you dont put the care into them.
Hope you wind up joining the Z family over the RX family (did i mention...we have prettier girlfriends?!) hope this helps....
-Tim
